Syrups and Flavourings
The following recipe for sugar syrup is quick and simple and is a great way of adding flavour to a cake as well as keeping your sponge nice and moist. Below that are some examples of sponge, filling and syrup flavours and different flavour combinations that work well together.
75g Sugar
75g Water
30ml flavouring e.g. rum
- Boil the sugar and water together for 5 minutes
- Cool to room temperature.
- Use a brish to brush the sugar syrup onto the sponge(s) to keep them moist.
